George, K9 Learning Support at Help Your Child Grow
George is a professionally certified support dog with official accreditation from Smart Pups. He now helps children in Queensland schools. Students who have shown a reluctance to participate in school activities and display challenging behaviour. These students gain confidence and feel secure when interacting with George in one-on-one and group sessions.
George achieves a positive impact on behaviour, educational outcomes and overall student wellbeing.
Behaviours
Interaction with George develops emotional regulation, self-awareness, skill development and empathy, while decreasing oppositional & challenging behaviours.
Social skills
Pro-social behaviour and verbalisation is increased and an understanding and demonstration of empathy displayed when students undergo training with George.
Support Staff
Programs can be tailored in response to GOIB’s, Guidance Officers, Behaviour Support Staff and other support requirements (e.g. Speech and Occupational Therapists).

Mandy and George will come to your school site and work with identified students requiring assistance with social skills, emotional regulation, self-management, challenging behaviour, and students with attachment and trauma related backgrounds.
High risk students
- Individual sessions (one student per session)
- Min. 2 hr booking (max. 2 students)
- Increased school participation, reduced anxiety, comprehending body language, improved relationships, communication, empathy and emotional regulation
Target program students
- Individual or small group sessions of 6 students.
- Minimum 2 x 45min bookings, one day per week, based on a 9 week program.
- Improved social, friendship, self-management and organisational skills. Increased self-awareness, confidence and resilience.
All students
- Universal programs.
- Minimum 2 hour group or class sessions.
- Reducing anxiety prior to whole class assessments (NAPLAN). Special Education Programs, Prep literacy and numeracy and integration in National Curriculum units.
